the heart of everything

of the heart beginning,

water,

sun,

laughter,

weeping,

struggle

and acceptance.

Africa grins as pain grins

she drums the way fear drums

she gives us the very essence of who we are

she gives us back what we have been giving.

Ana Atanaskovic graduated English language and literature at the Faculty of Philology in Belgrade. Master’s degree – advertising in literature. She has written collection of stories ‘Belgrade May Stories’, novel ‘Duet of Souls’, novel ‘Helene d’Anjou’, novel ‘My Love Nikola Tesla’, collection of stories ‘Belgrade is Love’, novel ‘Queen of Lilacs’ – extended edition of ‘Helene d’Anjou’ and novel ‘Davorjanka Paunovic’. ‘My Love Nikola Tesla’ was translated into Macedonian and English. As a journalist, she has written for Serbian ELLE and many other prominent magazines.
