The 34^th International Festival of Poetry of Medellin (34 FIPMed) Calls Young Poets to Participate

Medellin, Columbia Correspondent: To expand the participation of the poets of the world, the city and the country in the Festival, and as an effective way to meet new voices in the current landscape of poetry, invite young poets to participate in this call, which is dedicated to recognizing the enormous importance of poetry written by young people nowadays.

The 34 FIPMed Jurors’ committee will choose up to sixteen poets, who will participate in the 34th edition of the Festival, to be held between July 13-20, 2024. Poets under 40 years of age, of any nationality and language, regardless of their place of residence, can participate. Poets, who have participated in previous versions of the Festival, are excluded from this call. The poets who submit their works in different languages to Spanish should also submit their respective versions to Spanish.

In a single document in PDF or Word format, each participant must submit 20 poems (unpublished or published) and a bio-bibliographic sheet or essential presentation data. Attached to the document, each author must also send a photo in high resolution and contact details: email, telephone, WhatsApp and address of residence. Jurors will select up to four poets born outside of Colombia and up to four Colombians, to participate in the 34th FIPMed. Up to eight poets from Medellin and the Metropolitan Area will also be chosen. Discretionally, jurors will be able to recommend to the management of the 34th FIPMed additional names of poets who at their discretion could be invited.

Participation in the 34th FIPMed will be in person. Selected poets living outside of Colombia should manage their airline tickets. The organization of the 34th FIPMed will cover the costs of accommodation, food for poets living outside Medellin. This tender is open from publication and closes on April 15, 2024. The names of the jurors will be released on the day of judgment, which will be announced on April 30.
