Raped

By heartless vultures

Leaving you in pain,

You are still rivulets

Of blood gushing on

Down the thighs

Of your stoic

And soaring pyramids.

I ask: aren’t the sun

And the moon witnesses

To the crime and cruelty

Against you?

Khalid Imam, who hails from Kano, a state in Northwestern Nigeria, is the Founder /Curator of All Poets Network International, Festival Director, Nigeria Poetry Festival and Executive Director, Kano Schools Festival. He participated in the 2017 Wole Soyinka Foundation/ SAIL Program in Lebanon. In Khalid Imam is a bilingual writer and a multiple award-winning poet, playwright and art administrator.
