Ayo Ayoola-Amale

Becoming light

Mist masks the dawn
plaited in the weighty haze flapping
opening time clapping                                                                                                                     from the mushy wrapper of the cocoon.

Ayo Ayoola-Amale is an author, poet, playwright, artist and creative director who believe that

the art serves as a positive catalyst for enhancing the well-being of individuals, society and the environment. She trusts that the art expresses the inherent beauty in human experience and the environment with a sense of poetry and unbridled sensitivity. 

Ayo is the founder / director of Splendors of Dawn Poetry Foundation, and the Muse of Peace and Poetic Harmony, also known as Pacifist Poet and is acknowledged as a poet for positive social change. Her poems honour humanity, Africa and nature for what it is and how we can co-exist. Most of her poems are concerned with confronting the problem of violence, racism and the breakdown of human community.

Her works often use art forms in peace building, in developing new thinking around economic and progressive social change issues, often including poetry and the arts as a transformational vehicle to create systemic progressive change. Ayo initiated ‘The Canvas for Peace,’ an Art of Storied Poems exhibitions and paintings featuring her poems, artworks and photographic presentations.

Her recent work was on gender-based violence, corruption, disarmament and killer robots.   Ayo’s works includes Where the World Sings, Life script, The Weight of the Rat’s Nest,                  The Sun’s Came for Us amongst others.

She has been a guest poet at national, and international poetry festivals and literary events.

Ayo’s poems have appeared in several international and national anthologies, journals and magazines, and has been translated into major international languages.
